Denali was released by Colorado State University and is marketed under the PlainsGold brand in Colorado and in Kansas by Kansas Wheat Alliance. With TAM 111 in its pedigree, Denali is suited for the High Plains of western Kansas and eastern Colorado. It has excellent test weight and good drought tolerance- but not as good as that of some other varieties. It doesn’t seem to tolerate early spring heat as well as TAM 112. It may be best suited for average to good dry-land fields, not the toughest fields. Denali has a long coleoptile and very good shattering reputation. It is susceptible to wheat streak mosaic, however.
It appears to be photo-period sensitive, meaning its maturity relative to others can vary a bit from year to year.
Strengths:

- Long coleoptile
Weaknesses:
- Susceptible to stripe rust
- Moderately susceptible to leaf rust

- Very good straw strength
